I truly believe my arrival in Telluride was meant to be. I got here in 1987 when the stock market crashed, without a dime to my name (the plan was to train, and climb, and mountaineer my way back to mental health). What I found – in addition to my friend Erik Fallenius, whom I’ve known for forty years — was a real estate boom about to happen.
Given my background in real estate development, I hit the ground running. I entered the market, met the developer of the ski area (Ron Allred), and used all my prior experience in vacant land sales, construction contracting and master-planning communities to re-establish myself.
To me, the greatest satisfaction in real estate is fulfilling goals. Whether this means acquiring listings and executing them, building houses and renting them, or developing properties and closing deals, essentially, it is about one thing in the end: fulfilling my clients’ needs and making them happy in this extraordinary place.
Though I was born in Texas and moved with my father’s navy career to five other states, I found my real home in these mountains where I continue to climb, ski, and enjoy alpinism. I recently married my wife Anabel and am thrilled to be experiencing fatherhood for the first time. My greatest wish is to afford my son James a life of adventure, athleticism, and a first-rate education. The only thing I could possibly desire over and above what I have is to continue my overland travels around the world.
